With a commercial talk and music format, KLPZ 1380am is one of the few true community radio stations left, with local personalities broadcasting live and local from our studio in Parker, AZ and a diverse mix of content every weekday.

Every morning from <span class="highlight"><strong>6am until 10am</strong></span>, Keith & Juanita take to the airwaves with their unique husband-and-wife wake-up show. The 4-hour show takes the form of a variety of segments, which include State News and Weather, Wild West Experience, Just Another Day on Earth, Community Spotlight, Looking For Work, Radio Life Coach, This Day in History, Birthday Wishes, The Trading Post, The Dog-Gone Show, News You Can’t Use and Match Game. Guest co-hosted segments include the Sheriff’s Department Roundup, The Ultimate Sacrifice, Banking Spotlight, Legalease and more.</p>
<p>You-Call-It Fridays are a popular way to start the weekend. Beginning at 8am on many Fridays, an invited panel of regular and irregular guests come to KLPZ’s studio to banter and take listener-submitted quizzes on behalf of callers who get to pick their prize out of what’s up for grabs.</p>
<p>Throughout the years, KLPZ’s flagship morning show has done almost everything. Interviewing artists, blowing stuff up in a microwave to see what happens, experimenting with eating a single food for a week, protecting La Paz County from alien invasion, wagering on the weather, hosting political debates with candidates for office, competing with guests for most marshmallows stuffed in one’s mouth, trying out Taser stun guns in-studio, and the list goes on.</p>

<em><strong>Keith</strong> was born and raised near, Dickinson, North Dakota where his mother still lives. He joined the United States Marine Corp after high school, and then became a coal miner for some years before an injury forced him to look elsewhere for work. Keith decided to get into radio and worked at several stations around the country before coming to Parker to join KLPZ 1380am.</em><br />

<em><strong>Juanita</strong> was born and raised near Brownsville, Texas before moving to Montana. There, she listened to Keith’s show on a North Dakota radio station, and later met him at a remote broadcast. Before she moved to Parker to join Keith on the morning show, Juanita was at school for court reporting.</em><br />

The first song played on-air was Dreamweaver by Gary Wright and commercials cost $7 per spot.</div></div></div>
<div class="w-tabs-section"><div class="w-tabs-section-header"><span class="w-tabs-section-icon"></span><h4 class="w-tabs-section-title">1983</h4><div class="w-tabs-section-control"><i class="fa fa-angle-down"></i></div></div><div class="w-tabs-section-content"><div class="w-tabs-section-content-h i-cf">In 1983, two changes occurred which helped shape the future of the station. Firstly, Yuma County in Arizona split to accommodate the growth of the area, forming a brand new county in the process. KZUL now found itself in the seat of La Paz County, so it renamed to match, and became KLPZ (“K- La Paz”). Later that year Chuck Scofield of Scofield Broadcasting, in what he described as “a moment of insanity”, decided to buy KLPZ and add it to his family of stations.</div></div></div>
<div class="w-tabs-section"><div class="w-tabs-section-header"><span class="w-tabs-section-icon"></span><h4 class="w-tabs-section-title">1992</h4><div class="w-tabs-section-control"><i class="fa fa-angle-down"></i></div></div><div class="w-tabs-section-content"><div class="w-tabs-section-content-h i-cf">A new employee showed up to work, coming from KZRX in Phoenix just before Thanksgiving in 1992. His name was Keith Douglas Learn, born and raised in North Dakota. He was originally to be one of two co-hosts of the morning show, but in a very short space of time began to host the show alone. His style seemed to resonate with listeners, and he had several sidekicks on the show over the next several years. That was before a another change that came with the dawn of the new millennium.</div></div></div>

At 11:30am on April Fool’s Day, 2000, he bought the station from Scofield, and Learn Broadcasting recieved a license from the FCC. Keith realized that KLPZ was ‘too wild’ for a traditional format and had never quite fit into the mold anyway, so he designated the station’s original format as ‘Country And A Little More’, a perfect understatement. His girlfriend Juanita joined him from Phoenix to co-host the show, which became Mornings With Keith & Juanita.</div></div></div>
